Dental Implants - Stanley Dental provides dental implants to replace missing teeth, to enable our patients to maintain a perfect smile and full function of the dentition.

Sedation is used to help nervous or phobic patients to relax so that they can receive the treatment they require. It is also used for making unpleasant procedures such as wisdom tooth removal more pleasant.

Oral Surgery A tooth which is very decayed or damaged or loose because of gum disease may have to be extracted (taken out of your mouth).

Oral Cancer Screening is most important part of a dental examination because it can help find cancer at an early stage. Oral cancer may develop in any of the following areas lips, tongue, cheek, floor of the mouth, hard and soft palate, sinuses, and pharynx (throat).

Jaw Joint Problems The joint between your upper and lower jaws, just in front of your ears, is called temporomandibular joint (“TMJ” for short). Cartilage separates the bone surfaces and sometimes it becomes worn or moves out of place.

Payments Practice policy is that treatment must be paid for before completion. Other arrangements can be made at the discretion of the dentist. Payment is accepted by cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard and Delta.

Advanced & Cosmetic To improve your smile and improve the colour of your teeth we can provide cosmetic treatments such as Veneers, crowns, white fillings as well as tooth whitening.

Dentures A removable denture replaces missing teeth. “Partial” dentures replace a few missing teeth and “full” dentures are needed if all the natural teeth are missing

Access The practice has a wheelchair accessible surgery and a disabled toilet, situated on the ground floor. Home visits can be arranged for patients who are unable to attend the surgery. Please ask for more information.

Emergency Cover The Stanley Dental Practice is part of NHS Direct. Out of normal surgery hours, please call 08454647 for advice and information, and access to emergency dental treatment.

Dental Hygiene Sticky plaque builds up on everyone’s teeth every day and this can lead to gum disease. The gum comes away from the teeth, making the plaque more difficult to clean away

Prevention Fluoride is a material that is found all around us in small amounts. It is very effective in protecting teeth against decay

Restoration A filling replaces part of the tooth that has been lost because of decay or accidental damage

Endodontics Teeth are held in the jaw by their roots. Front teeth normally have one root but further back have more.

Dental Examination The dental examination shows how healthy you mouth is. After the examination, you and your dentist can discuss the results and plan the best way to deal with any problems

Periodontal Disease Periodontal disease affects the gums and bone supporting your teeth. It is caused by sticky plaque and hard deposits of tartar. It usually happens when the teeth and gums are not kept clean enough

Examination X-rays show what is happening inside and around the tooth and its roots. They will show any decay or gum disease, bone loss and, in children, how the jaw is growing too
